Geiger opens a new sorting/crushing plant in Petelea

A new sorting/crushing plant, owned by Geiger, has been newly opened in Petelea. After two month of intensive work, the specialized German contractor successfully buttoned up all the plant details. Following a two-weeks trial period, production is now being carried out in two shifts.

The products provided by the plants’ eight employees, will be delivered to building sites, as well as to concrete and asphalt plants developing activities in the area of Târgu Mureş. In Mures County, Geiger is also owning and operating a concrete and an asphalt plant, producing materials that are further sold to both companies and private persons.

Mr. Georg Geiger, the company’s General Manager in Romania, aknowledged, during his speech held at the plants’ official opening, on August 31st, the support offered by the mayor of Petelea and the local authorities, appreciating the outstanding collaboration throughout the entire project: planning, obtaining authorisations and building phase. With regard to the company’s activities in Romania, Mr. Geiger further mentioned in his speech that Targu Mures is representing a region of an utmost interest in the country, this being the reason for which any investment is not only thoroughly prepared, but also of a major importance.

The new gravel plant is not only distinguished due to its capacity, but also – and more important – due to its imposing location. The operating area is located on the right side of the river Mures, while the sorting plant was build on the left side. Thus, a 160m long conveyor is crossing the river, transporting the raw material to the manufacturing area.

Due to these three manufacturing units – sorting/crushing, concrete and asphalt unit – the plant is now fully equipped and ready to contribute to the regional infrastructure development.
